The Monte Ciitorio Wellness Center is a facility located at Piazza del Parlamento, the heart of Rome. This design reimagines the traditional Roman bathhouse by blending historical reverence with contemporary innovation. Inspired by the ancient “thermae”, the bathhouse becomes a sanctuary for wellness, community, and cultural dialogue, harmonizing past and present in one of Rome’s most iconic piazzas. The design features a series of public programs, nestled within a structure that echoes the classical geometry of Roman architecture while employing modern materials like glass and travertine. Its large raised garden terrace facing the Parliament building creates a seamless transition between the built and unbuilt within Rome’s urban landscape. The gym façade subtly integrates with the piazza’s historic context along Campo Marzio, ensuring the bathhouse feels like an organic extension of its surroundings rather than an imposition within the public realm. By combining wellness, history, and environmental stewardship, this modern bathhouse offers a timeless retreat in the heart of Rome, redefining urban renewal through the lens of tradition and innovation.
