The University of Providence is a private university located in Great Falls, Montana. The school is enriched with its religious history regarding its founders and is a proud Division 1 school in the Frontier Conference of the NAIA for athletics. In this proposal to redesign the university’s master plan, we created more areas for activities and additional programs to generate revenue, such as a softball field and ice rink for athletics, an arts amphitheater, a freshmen quad, and renovations to their academic facilities. One of our main goals was to instill the school’s religious history within the landscaping and plan itself, by designing meditative spaces within our added forests that are planted behind towers that serve specific patrons. These are meant to inspire the school’s students and people of the community , but also refrain from overpowering the symbolism of the school’s current campanile. Additionally, the university has retained a 9-acre lot southeast of the campus grounds that we have repurposed into a community hockey rink and housing for the nearby residing medical, military, and academic personnel.
